Friends
We love these little girls - and I was delighted to get a chance to spend some time with them the other day.

The first time I met Pam was at church. I just found out I was pregnant with Henry and she was a few months ahead of me with Anna. We had not yet met, but she walked over and said, "I think we have something in common..." and smiled. And it has blossomed into a beautiful friendship. It's been so fun to watch the kids develop friendships too. They sure do have a good time when they're together! It's also very fun trying to get kids to take pictures... :)

Never a dull moment
An updated pic of the cousins -- Reuben usually spends a third of his time at our house stunned, a third being hugged by Wyatt, and the other third either eating or sleeping!! :) It's so funny to watch Henry and Wyatt run circles around him... by next summer, he'll be giving them a run for their money!
Henry helping make cookies for school.
And Wyatt doing his "chore" (as he calls it) of reading Myles books. He calls everything his chore - it's really sweet.

Family Night
Jonathan was in charge of Family Night on Saturday. He decided that we'd make a fun time out of sorting through the bins under the train table. It actually worked out well...

Aunt Meagan...
... came for a visit with Levi, Cam, and Avery last week. A good time was had by all! Henry was in a sour mood the rest of the night after they went home. I had to be sympathetic b/c I remember being like that after we had to leave our cousins when I was growing up. And I'm thankful that he's sad... means he loves his fam :)

Memorable Things Kids Say - Volume 16
Henry says, "Oh, who reads it? Is that God's voice?"
Jonathan said, "No, it's a narrator."
Henry said, "No, I think it's God."
You never know.

Memorable Things Kids Say - Volume 15
As Henry says, "Mom, Dad, listen for a minute. Look at me. (when he sees he has our attention.... he continues) Our heads are our helmets, our hands are our gloves, our feet are our cleats. Oh, and our shirts are our jerseys. Now listen, Wyatt is the Jets and I'm the Bengals. Dad, who are you cheering for?"
Jonathan says, "No one. I only cheer for the Colts."
Henry says, "OK, OK, Wyatt is the Colts, and I"m the Bengals. Now who are you cheering for?"
Jonathan says, "The Colts."
Henry says, "Mom, who are you cheering for?"
I say, "I can't cheer for the Bengals. So I guess the Colts."
Henry says, "OK, OK, Wyatt is the Colts, and I'm the Jets. Mom, now who are you cheering for?"
I say, "Oh good, I'll cheer for the Jets."
They they talk about things like 5-yard penalties, and field goals, and touchdowns, and quarterbacks, etc. all while they are playing. It really is the cutest thing. They especially like playing football in the sandbox.

Pumpkin Hunting
A long version to say that it has really worked well for our family to plan together. We love spontaneity too, but a lot of times the reality is, we have to plan ahead to see things happen... which takes work!
Wow, a long explanation to say, we went to hunt for pumpkins last wknd. We chose the coldest, rainiest day in October which actually worked out well b/c NO ONE else was getting pumpkins at Windmill Farms. I bet today it is packed there b/c it's so beautiful out. We then headed home for lentil soup in the crock pot with homemade bread. Then, we set our minds to carving. The boys loved it! They are at such a great age right now. We spent about 2 hours doing this and by then it was dark. We lit them up... Beautiful! (pics to follow later)
Btw, I want you all to know, our kids will never win the best dressed award! :) We sent Henry up to get dressed on pumpkin day, and I'll admit, I gave him no instruction. So when he came down, I didn't feel that I could really complain about what he chose. But we were both cracking up at his arrangement!

What have you been doing with your free time?
However, I am reminded of how much we have been given. Henry has about 60 t-shirts and it's not b/c we're t-shirt junkies! It's b/c people have extended so much generosity toward us. I seldom have to buy much for the boys. I just have to fill in the gaps. I am also reminded of how fast they are growing. You don't see it happening and then one day you put on that long sleeve shirt they wore last spring... and 5 months later the sleeves are too short, it's become a belly shirt... and you think to yourself, wow, he has really grown! I am thankful for this.
