My parents were here over the wknd and we enjoyed green smoothies from my dad as well as home repairs, as usual :) My mom and I were also able to enjoy some hot tea and a game of scrabble... she won of course! I need to play that game more.

Smiles with Myles - Volume 7

Don't you just want to squeeze him? Myles is almost 8 months old! Wow, we can hardly believe that. Spoken like a true parent of multiple children... I guess all of their lives fly by. Or at least that is what I hear. He is log rolling all over the place as I have mentioned before, and he smiles a ton and is getting an ornery side. Sleeps 10-12 hours a night, is a sketchy nap-taker (but we can't complain since his night time sleep is so good), still is resisting his solid foods, and LOVES his brothers. He is really into grabbing faces. It is so darn cute. We were supposed to have his ABR (auditory brain response) test last week, but had to reschedule since he still had a fever/cold. They don't want anyone at Children's who is not well, plus he really needs to be 100% before he takes the test. The ABR tests the integrity of the hearing system from the ear to the brainstem. It should tell us if he has any hearing loss at all. B/c of the speech therapists concern at his December appt, it is probably the best choice to follow through with the test if possible. It does require the child to be sleeping, and if that doesn't work, then sedation is needed. It will be difficult to have him sleep since they have to hook things up to his head, however, we can hold him so that is a plus. If we can't get him to sleep through the test, then we will most likely postpone it b/c we are very hesitant to sedate when he is still so little when it is not an emergency situation. So, you can pray with us to that end... that hopefully we will be able to get him to sleep for the test. We will have that on March 4th.

Longing...

... for these kinds of days!!! We've had so much sickness around here that I asked my sister today... "Is it bad when a trip to CVS for some more Motrin actually sounds like an exciting outing?" She said... umm.. yes, that is bad. Came across this picture and ahhhh... I am longing for these days!! They are around the corner!!

You always know you love your kids, but some days, it just hits you more... the top picture of Henry was when he was sick a few weeks ago. You can kind of see it in his eyes. You really see his true colors come out when he is sick. He is a trooper, he rarely complains, and rarely asks for help. I just fell in love with him all over again! I also recently discovered that Henry has my baby teeth! It just hit me one day... I was looking at his jawline and his mouth, and realized, it looks exactly like mine when I was that age.


Funny pics of Myles... doesn't everyone have at least one picture of their kid doing this? "I'm eating... I really am... I am eating... but then, I'm just too tired... Now I'm sleeping in my high chair with my bib on and food still in my mouth!"

Miscellaneous

The boys continue to LOVE working. Give them a piece of cardboard, and they'll disappear for hours.

Myles isn't really strong at sitting yet, but he can log roll all over the place now. I ran upstairs with the boys the other day to grab something. I left Myles under his play gym. When I came downstairs, he was in the middle of the kitchen floor. So cute!

Weather & Soup

When the weather gets cold, I love to make soup. If you are my Mom, you make soup when the weather is cold and icy... and when it's hot and humid. There was really never a bad time for soup when I was growing up! :) Which is probably why I have a true love for it... I tried homemade Chix Noodle Soup last week out of a new cookbook I bought on recommendation from my sister. (The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook... lots of healthful, yummy recipes!) We really enjoyed it. I decided if I had absolutely nothing else to do and no distractions, I would enjoy cooking more. I do like to cook, but I don't do well in a time crunch or under pressure. The soup was so good on an icy night. We've enjoyed all of the recipes so far... and the ice was pretty incredible.

Safety First

I'm not sure if we've shared, but we have a policeman/Superman and a fireman/Batman in the house. If you ever need rescued, I'm fairly certain we can offer our services for free.

I know I say this all the time...

... but I really don't ever post as many pictures or stories on this blog as I'd like. So, brevity is the key in some cases. And I think the next few posts will be exactly that... brief. I do have this way of convincing myself that I have less time than the average person (btw, I know it's not true). I came across this quote the other day:

Yes, this is true. It wasn't really monumental for me, but I did find it interesting. So what do I do with my 24 hours? Good question. I guess for these 6 minutes I'm blogging :)
