Henry noticed his first lost tooth several weeks ago. He came downstairs with a Christmas-morning-like excitement and said, "Mom, I have a loose tooth! I just noticed it this morning while I was laying in bed." He told everyone... the car-rider help at school, strangers at the store, anyone who would listen. It finally came out last week at church... during the Sunday morning sermon. He quietly made his way over to me, quietly opened his hand to reveal the tooth, and quietly showed me his bloody smile. We quietly made our way out to the church kitchen to swish with some salt water! (Don't worry, I made him spit in a cup!) We are believers in the tooth fairy so he was one very happy little boy the next morning when he discovered the tooth fairy had visited. However, it wasn't the tooth fairy he said. It was the tooth fairy's secret agent. Apparently, the tooth fairy (accd to Henry) is very busy these days so she assigns secret agents to kids. His secret agent's name was Jake. Jake (who is the same size as the leprechauns who visit us at St. Patrick's Day ... Henry informed us) noticed Henry was awake but Henry convinced him he just wanted to be friends. That was good b/c Jake then told Henry that all secret agents carry sleep darts. I guess Jake typically shoots kids who are awake with the sleep dart, but he believed Henry had no ill-intent, so allowed him to stay awake. We have NO IDEA where Henry came up with this story... but he had us all pretty captivated at breakfast Monday morning. Wyatt was wide-eyed. And so impressed that when we did our 'friendly letter' writing that day, Wyatt wanted to write a 'thank you' note to the tooth fairy on Henry's behalf asking her if he would get a secret agent too. The tooth fairy wrote back that night... in such fancy writing that even Henry couldn't read it. It said, "Thank you for the kind note. Your secret agent will be notified when you lose your first tooth. Until then, Love the Tooth Fairy" She even left some glitter on his pillow.
Taking these good notes... b/c I don't want the tooth fairy to forget what the protocol is here in Springboro, Ohio.
