This time of year is always meaningful to me. I love the sounds of the locusts, and while it is a promise that summer is coming to an end, I'm never dreading fall weather! I love the change of colors, the cool, crisp air... And school! I loved school when I was growing up. I always looked forward to going back, seeing friends, meeting new people, finding out my schedule, seeing what teachers I had, etc.

After much, much debate (and I'm not joking... it would hav exhausted you!), we decided to put Henry in Kindergarten in our local public school district. We prayerfully considered all options, and for this year, we really feel this was the best decision for him and our family. He is SO EXCITED. (Really, capital letters don't emphasize enough how thrilled he is.) He will even ride the bus, which was a stretch for me... since my elementary principal hubby is always reminding me that the bus is the most unsupervised location of the entire school experience! :) One nice thing about Springboro is that their Kindergarten bussing is only kindergartners... and actually, I'm not sure how nice that really is b/c it might mean more craziness!! However, we're sticking to it for now and we'll see how it goes. He knows all of the neighbor kids which is three other kindergartners, so at least he'll have friends to sit with. The bus is another exciting factor for him, although I'm sure he'll get bored of it sooner than later. It's kind of like shaving your legs... always exciting in the beginning, but that fades real fast!

Monday is the start of his first half day and he'll go the full week. He keeps reminding me that he'll be gone next week (like I'm going to forget). When asked what he is most excited about, he says "learning how to read." Funny, if you know Henry, since he has been resisting learning how to read from the moment we started teach him some basics!! However, he has informed me that he wants Mrs. Santiago to teach him, and when she does, he'll come home and read us and Wyatt books. When asked what he is most not looking forward to, he says "Nothing, I'm excited about all of it!"

I am excited about new beginnings... I really am. It's always fun to see your child grow! At the same time, my heart breaks at how fast the time goes!! It's really incredible... I can hardly describe it and it's something I never thought I'd be sad over. Thankfully, Jonathan keeps bringing me back to real life reminding me that these kids are not our own, God has given them to us as gifts, and that our job is to raise them to be independent and bring glory to Him, not to duck tape them to my walls so they can't ever leave (which is really what I want to do)!! :)

All that to say, this is only the beginning... year by year, we'll decide on how to school, we'll grow through changes, we'll learn new lessons. For now, I'm so thankful for each little body in this house. It is overwhelmingly GOOD, GOOD, GOOD.
Sorry for the long post... it's been awhile since I've blogged!
