A very common occurrence... laundry was done on Thursday. Just did it again this past Monday. Here is what I find:
Wyatt's Pile: 6 pairs of shorts, 7 t-shirts, 6 pairs of boxers, 4 pairs of socks
Henry's Pile: 1 pair of shorts, 2 t-shirts, 1 pair of boxers, 4 pairs of socks, 1 pj shirt

A Late Post

We did color eggs this year... it was fun and the boys loved it. We actually enjoy it too. It's like doing a craft together - but we only do it once a year so it keeps it fresh. Then we had an egg hunt. Our neighbors happened to be out so we included their kids in it too which made it more fun! It was a BEAUTIFUL day and we even set up this little crazy jumpy house that was given to us. We discovered it has a hole that needs patched... but with only four of them, it held up pretty good and of course, they didn't notice :)



My reflections on this holiday are meaningful. It's once again another holiday that gets conflicted with earthly traditions. We're cool with the traditions, and they are fun, but we set aside separate time to emphasize to the kids why we celebrate Easter or Resurrection Sunday. For me, I love to dwell on the fact that I have full access to God b/c of what Jesus did for me. He paid the price for my sin, was my substitute lamb, He died instead of me. When God sees me, He sees Christ. And that means God is my Father... there is no fear, no condemnation.. I am His child b/c of what Jesus did on the cross. AND, the fact that Jesus resurrected is what makes it real. It's amazingly beautiful. I can call on God ANYTIME b/c Jesus lived a perfect life, died a sinner's death, and rose again to conquer. Thank you Lord!!

Dayton Dragons

We took the kids to a Dayton Dragons game today. Reminded us of why we love the Midwest... It's so unpredictable! It's been 60s and 70s and sunny, and today was windy, overcast, and 46 degrees!! We still had a great time... The kids love the games, and the Dragons do a great job of making it about the family fun. We were all so tired when we got home. Gave the kids a snack and now we're off to do the bedtime routine.

He's been telling us he's ready...

...for his training wheels to come off. I don't think we believed him. But he was right!! He literally didn't even need practice. He was off!!

These are just some random pictures. Things to note:

1.Our first 2011 goal in our family journal was to buy a new camera. When we re-visited our family journal at the beginning of 2012, we realized we still hadn't bought a new camera. That tells you how long it takes us to think things through... we remedied that FINALLY on our last date night. Maybe you'll see me blogging more now :)
2. Henry and Wyatt have a very difficult time wearing coats or long sleeves or long pants. Since it's been like spring for the past month, ANYTIME I ask them to put something on that might cover their extremities, I get the eye rolling, "but mom," head down response. Today I had to talk to Henry about his attitude. I gave him the quick lecture on honoring your parents even with your attitude... then I said, "I'm not going to give you a consequence this time, but next time, I will. This is a friendly warning." (I'm sure this violates one of the Tripp books recommendations on discipline! ha ha...!) He said, "Wait, what'd you just say?" I said, "This is just a friendly warning." He says, "No, the other part... the part before that." I say, "The part where I said I'm not going to give you a consequence this time....?" He said, "Yeah... just that part. I heard the rest. Thanks." I'm not really sure what to make of that... but it made me laugh in my head, so I thought I'd jot it down.
3. Yesterday, I got home from a friend's house at 5:30pm. J had a spring concert at school so was not coming home until late. I was prepared. Had dinner made ahead... so I was putting it in the oven to warm, and I hear Wyatt casually say, "Mom, come here please." He was in the bathroom. So I came after closing the oven door... and there was Myles standing at the toilet, playing in the water, WHILE Wyatt was peeing in it. Really? Why wasn't Wyatt screaming for me to come? Needless to say, I set the oven time for 22 minutes and took everyone up for a bath (since at my friends house, Myles pulled over the doggy water bowl and played in that for awhile... he was in desperate need for a wash down.). I had 22 minutes. Success. Came downstairs, took food out of oven, walk around the corner, and there is Myles AGAIN, playing in the toilet water. At least this time, no one was peeing in it. Two years ago, I would have silently rolled my eyes at any mom who let this happen... thinking to myself, seriously, is it that difficult to watch your kids in a 2400 sq.ft. home? But, now... it's me... and honestly, YES. Somedays it is just that hard to keep track depending on your mental state ;)

Visitors

My sister's family came to visit last wknd. It was great! We took the kids bowling which was very fun, but we mostly enjoyed the wonderful weather!!! This was Wyatt's first time bowling... he was pumped!! We have to start remembering to take pictures of more than just the kids... they are just so much cuter than adults!

Breyer's Chocolate Ice Cream

I always love Breyers... So good and I love the short ingredient list! When I'm pregnant, I crave few things, but Breyers chocolate is one of them. So, of course, like any good mom, I bought some for the children ;) Guess who took the first bite...? And it wasn't chocolate man below!
